FAQ

Doula services

1. What can a doula offer to me?

As a doula, I offer you help and support during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period with maximum support for your own competences. According to your individual needs, I will help you prepare for labou and the postpartum period so that you can make the most informed decisions along the way. I will support you and your partner during labor, and can also assist in communicating your wishes and needs to the medical staff. After the birth, I can help you with settling into your new role, breastfeeding, carrying your baby, and helping out around the home. My personal love is a work through touch, so I can also nurture you through craniosacral osteobiodynamics or massage during pregnancy or postpartum.

Pregnancy and childbirth are some of the most powerful natural transformational events in a woman's life. As such, they can be more deeply anchored, experienced and integrated through the rites of passage associated with this period. If you are interested, I would be happy to design and organize a prenatal or postpartum closing ritual for you.

2. What does not a doula do?

Dula is here to support you in your own competencies, to be a sparring partner for you and your partner on the path you choose for yourself. A doula is not a medical professional, she does not provide any medical services, she does not examine, diagnose, make medical decisions or recommendations. As a matter of principle, the doula does not evaluate and judge the client, does not direct or manipulate the client to make specific decisions, does not make decisions for the client.

3. Doesn't the doula overshadow the role of the woman´s partner?

On the contrary, the doula should be a sparring partner and an anchor for both the woman and her partner, because they all go through the process of pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period together. Thus, it is ideal if both partners can be at the initial introductory meeting so that they can get to know each other and assess whether they want to enter into a joint collaboration.

4. Won't the doula push me into a "natural" birth?

Dula is not here to push you anywhere, manipulate you, make decisions for you, or evaluate your decisions. On the contrary, she will provide you with maximum support within her competence so that you can make an informed choice about the best path for you and your baby.
